Palaonda

The Palaonda (New Ice Palace of Bolzano) project has been carried out with a team of colleagues for the occasion of a call for tenders published by the Trade Fair Organization of Bolzano in the early nineties. The project won the tender thanks to the original solution of the large wooden plated roofing, which followed the example of the “wave” which at the time was common in stadiums.

The originality and beauty of this large roofing transformed the functional roofing of the ice stadium’s rectangle into a constructional and architectural gem. The name Palaonda has thus spread across the entire alpine area as an example of innovation and compositional freedom for large constructions with wooden plating. This project has allowed me to specialize my knowledge and technical competence in the planning and construction phases of these specific structures.
